My oil drain plug leaked too. Inside the pan, the threads for the plug don't seem to be 'all the way round'. I put my little finger in there to feel, and there was a small gap. Like a "C".
Now I just use some teflon tape on the bolt threads, and a sturdy lawn hose washer. I don't tighten it 'all the way' down, because this softer washer squeezes outward. I've done it this way for 2 yrs, and change the oil every 2k miles.
