Angry Oh nice. More problems

Known blown exhaust manifold gasket. It'll be fixed soon. Ish. My view it was pretty easy to blow it, not really fair. It's near the front and very vocal.

Sump is distorted and tends to leak whenever I change the oil. Name of all that's holy or otherwise, it needs a lot of thread tape to not leak there. It'll be fixed next time I fuck the car. Oh yea, and the turbo feed-return pipe bit is leaking just under the turbo again. Same pace. Good.

Problems I'm really concerned with are the buzzing at idle and low engine speeds ... and the idling at 1,500. Low engine speeds being 2,500 or lower I guess. It will idle at 600 or so when it feels like it, but I can be driving for a half hour and we're still idling at 1.5k when I get home. Havn't checked for fault codes yet.
Not sure if the buzzing is from the auto trans or if its from this odd looking thing bracketed to the firewall, with a thin pvc hose connecting it to the throttle body.
1.Anybody know what this thing could be ?
2.What causes a supra to idle like that ?

A boy racer took a run up and " shot " past me in the passing lanes on the way home. If he hadn't forced me to floor it and very neatly point out that anything he can get after a run-up, my baby has on demand ... I'd be asking why I owned this damn thing.
Yes, this is mostly just a rant. Sorry.

Delivering it home with a friend driving the Supra for the first time. I drop gears and make a scream from the twin pipes flowing down this pony's flanks and it takes off like it's tail's on fire.

I look back when the Honda gets to its tap-out and the Supra's only two lengths behind. No one I've let ride my bike has told me its slow, they've all loved the thing. That car is a good thing indeed.

Our Supra’s, which art in the driveway,
Hollowed be thy power, thy mods are great, thy speed endless,
On the road or at the track. Give us this day free of cops,
And forgive us our impound charges, as we forgive those who are slow.
And lead us not into speed traps, and deliver us from the interceptors,
For thine is our car, the power, and the glory…forever and ever….amen.

Default My McGyver Fix

My oil drain plug leaked too. Inside the pan, the threads for the plug don't seem to be 'all the way round'. I put my little finger in there to feel, and there was a small gap. Like a "C".

Now I just use some teflon tape on the bolt threads, and a sturdy lawn hose washer. I don't tighten it 'all the way' down, because this softer washer squeezes outward.

I've done it this way for 2 yrs, and change the oil every 2k miles.

Yikes, every 2,000mi?
Change it every 4,000mi and save your pennies for a new oil pan.

I would wrather save my car than save some pennies. 2k is normal for turbo engines.

Thread tape's good enough for me. Grand daddy used it on his horses at his ranch an' itll do for my 254 horses @ 5,600 rpm. I looked at the sump, it can't come off in place so it'll have to stay like that until she throws a shoe ( ie; forever more ).

And she's idling normal now. Wtf. Why ? Dunno.
Power steering was the massive leak, I think.

SupraSaver87 ; I do that a lot. Don't need to pass somebody if he knows he's been toast, I'm not mean. Such as if an integra passes me and the car ahead of me ( different story ). Can't make up my mind if I want to race or not ... his lead's too big anyways by this time ... not 100% sure of car ... honda making a big bore sound ... hell with it ... Did that twice closed the gap he made then slowed to cruise not too close behind, second time he was pretty much tapped out and I still caught up fast. My speedo is inacurate so I have no idea how fast we were going. I think 137kmph on my speedo is integra tapped out ...

the ISC valve and Throttle position sensor are the first things i'd check for the high idle. Start poking your head around in the engine and listen for the buzzing sound. When you start isolating it pinpoint it with a mechanics stethoscope. Take of picture of the thing thats on the fire wall connected to the intake manifold.
