I believe that goes to the VSV on the underside of the intake manifold.

Is it somewhere close to the starter? Can you tell me exactly where it is? Its hard to see it because of the intake manifold.

Try that... it is located underneath the intake manifold in a very bad spot. My wiring harness had broken and I was forced to try and splice the wires - I think that was one of the hardest things having to be done while leaving all of the parts on!

Even if yours is a GTE engine, it's in the same location.

Let me know if you find it, I've got my block apart for a swap, just waiting for the JDM, so I can always go find it on the harness.

if you have egr you may have two vsv's under there

but it should be under/between #1 & #2 intake runners

I just noticed how rusty colored your cams look. Is that sludge or has it been sitting up for a while. The intake looks nice and clean though, hope the rest of the inside of the engine doesn't look that way.

that also looks like it could go on the water temperature sensor on top of the thermostat....but it would be easy to see. i think toyota likes connectors that look like that. also does anyone know if the water temperature sensor sends to the gauge in the car? because my stopped working.

that plug def goes to one of the vsv's under the intake

as for your temp issues... there are two temp senders located on the thermostat housing, one is a two pin plug and usually green or grey depending on year.. that one is your ecu temp, the other one is just a single spade terminal (and if it's old) where the spade terminals comes out the sender will be a reddish colour and breaking into smallish pieces thats your dash gauge

well... here's a grayscale one lol
