Who cares about top speed? Your never going to go that fast.
|
supra
first off ever heard of a drag strip? you can go pretty fast among using other tracks to get your top speed. as of the quote on the design, every car in this past century does have traits off other cars thats just how design works. just kinda sad that the supra doesnt have a spoiler anymore. Personally the more engine options they have the better chance they have to sell it. I hope they have like 3-4 different models and price ranges for those certain people. I once again untill i see them on the road and in final design like the old ones. i just hope they dont crush this design like the skyline.

Your not going to reach the cars top speed in a quater mile. I know lots about drag racing. And im sure this car will be capable of at least 150 (hp/drag, or so it seems), And its never going to go that fast in a 1/4 mile, Unless you turn it into a 9 sec drag car.
|
0 to 60?
whats the average 0 to 60 mph, in any old supra?
|
supra times
the mxiv supra shows a 5.3 time 0-60. A top speed of 155, and 13.7 seconds on the 1/4 mile. took me a little longer to find some specs but thats what it says. hp is 320@5600 and it has a 325.1 ft-lbs @4800 rpm.
as i stated before you could do a big track also. its not like a drag track, is the only place to test a car. Probably the cheapest but thats about it. Um if you had a high turbo you could run probably easy 10's with a good tranny n differential setup at the drag track. that right there would be what probably 130+mph or so plus. and you dont have to stop right away i'd say reaching 150 or so on the drag is good enough. To set up a car your can go either way and i'd say a highend car sucks at drags anyways bcuz of the differential. if you want top speed i'd probably recommend a v-10-12, mid-engine and having a good rear-end setting. as for the new supra specs i have no clue what they are and i guarantee i could probably make a 700hp running supra for the same price. and yes it'd kick its ass in anything. only problem is on todays gas prices how much will i actually drive a car like that? probably pretty little, here and there at the drags. I barely drive my 70 challenger that get like 8 mpg. goes pretty fast tho. on top of that you can get dragsters for pretty cheap, ya i always wanted a streetable car that can go insanely fast. sadly i havent seen too many new cars i actually love or need. Ya some are nice but none are would make me switch my mind on getting a 32 ford chopped and hot rodded. only a few like a ferrari, lambo etc would make me blink twice about going that way. Most cars after you get in them you might change your mind, i know i have with a lot but the fact remains that many cars are lacking the looks and hp. the new mustangs got the looks but no hp, sure i can super it right away or turbo it but its just not my first choice on having a dragger. i look forward to seeing some more super cars, i heard the dusenberg or w/e suppose to be making a comeback and resembles a lot of the bently contintal. to me its just sad that im starting to like some 4 doors over 2. Bottom line is a 2-door will kick the crap outta a 4 bcuz of its length but the new evo and 300's have me always second looking them. I just want the new camaro and challenger now. It's gonna be interesting to see how many our bought, im thinking a ton and once again the supra and hondas will have the rarer cars. I'm just half scared to see what gas prices might get to when no ones putting a cap on it and that over in europe already its close to 10 dollars per gallon. i mean seriously i'd think about riding my pedal bicycle around town then wasting 100 g for 20 mins of fun. as for the kid that asked about top speed i'd recommend learning about different torque converters and rear-ends before you look up some silly brochure trying to remember specs. took me a lil while myself to understand the differnt gearing off trannys and rear-ends but makes a huge difference in speed for your application. |
i really like the supra sz-r caz it looks well nice. is it the MKIV?

If that's the new Supra, then what is...
I was told a long time ago(I think it was in a magazine) that this 7-speed beast is the new Supra. Or am I wrong? http://sloaninnovations.com/ebay/Toyota-Volca-004.jpg http://www.toyota-supra.info/img/supra-2007.jpg Anybody make the same mistake as me?lol

i like the sound of a mid-engine v10 supra tho
thats sumthing i can see myself in and i like that body of the black one it looks more menacing |
very suprised it's naturally aspirated...i wonder if the potential of that engine will be near that of the 2jz
|
Shouldn't the new engine surpass the 2jz
I mean, they did have about 6*8 years since the death of the supra They should have been able to come up with better technology Or is the 2jz is going to retain its legendary reliability and strengt It'll take a few years even after the release of the new supra b4 we can even find out |

not to burst anyone bubble but dont you guys and gals think that its modeled after a supra. Not a 350, not a carrera GT, and def not a s2000, all of those cars came out after the MKIV. therefore isnt it safe to say that all of the other designs took ques from the MKIV?
just a question j |

thats all |
U do make a good point in that
But I guess pple are trying to say that toyota returnd the favor by copying off them now But I could care less on how the car looks now I think I've graduated to seeing what the engine can do instead of how fast it looks But we have till next year b4 we can even find out if toyota is gonna make a move Cuz its about time they step up again in the sports car market And hopefully they don't use that excuse that there's no market for coupes, roadsters and sportscars if they don't release it |

i was online the other day and read they are not going to call it a supra it willbe a lexus i think it was in a motortrend article or something but lexus was going to intoduce itand call it a lexus 430 or something like that...

wah wah wah
Will you guys stop crying about the car? It doesn't have an I6, no turbos, it doesn't look big enough, it's not a real supra, blah blah blah. Do you realize that in order to make the car affordable, Toyota has to build it with shared parts from other cars in its lineup. What new car has the 2Jay-Z motor in it? None. They have to use the 3.5V6 from the IS350 and the V8 from the GS models to keep costs down. What good is knowing that it has the mythical straight 6, if you can't afford it? And why do you want turbos so much? Do you like lag, additional weight and complexity?
Also, whoever said that the V8 supra will be too heavy must be forgetting what kind of engine block the MK4 had. Iron. The all-aluminum 4.3 will probably be lighter, or at least the same weight. Forget about the V6, that thing's gona be a featherweight compared to the straight 6. In conclusion to my little rant, the V8 supra will probably be a low to mid 12-second car, and the V6 a low 13's car, seeing as how an automatic 306hp IS350 does high 13's. That will easily outclass the MK4 with its allmighty turbos. Stop complaining and just enjoy the fact that Toyota still gives a damn about you and doesn't spend all the Supra development money on a new 4x4. |
i found this the other day and if the new supra looks like this it wouldn't be that bad. even though i love the way the mkiv looks. http://www.2008toyotasupra.net

the japanese scan looks the best i think.

Looks sick!

I personaly think its a beatiful car, I love it. I'm sure it woill be a very nice car.
|
now that i look at it closer, it's got some resemblance to the solstice.... kinda lame.. but id rate it more good that bad.
|
thats bad as_S although the rear tail lights look somewhat like the s2000 tail lights
|
I'm not too extremely excited, and too bad it has a V8.
|
I bet the new supra will have the motor swapped to the 2jz motor with lots of people... since the nissan skyline still has its in line 6tt!!
|
the new skyline has the vq engine
same engine with the 350z, so i dont know what inline6 engine your talking about |
I read somewhere that it still had the in line 6tt, but I can be wrong!... which I now think I am!
|
Rumours
I guess there is still a lot of rumours , the fact is Toyota bought Subaru for their vdc control and all wheel drive system , this photo down here they are speculating about a hybrid ... i hope not ... brute powa rear wheel drive please!!
http://www.motorcities.com/media/ima...pra-A-640.jpeg have a look this is a difrent look |
I think the car looks sick in a new hybrid way!! but I would like to see(as a new guy to supra's) the same power plant that supra has had but maybe with some upgrades or something... I know the 2jz swap will happen but eh...
|
I like the MK4 best, but the new ones looks cool too, just have to wait and see if that V8 power plant can hold up to the legendary 2JZ
|
true dat!!
|
MK3 great too, and the most affordable, im not a Supra owner, and never have been, but im thinkin about getting my foot in the door with a MK3 turbo. Then workin my way up to a MK4 TT 6spd, and maybe someday the new one will grow on me enough to get one, like the 05+ tacomas did. Im not new to tuning toyotas, however all the toyotas iv tuned have been truck engines (22re, 22RTE, 2RZ, 3RZ) i even messed with a 1994 pickup that had a 7M swap, but the MK3 and 4 supras are my favorite cars on the planet, for looks and engine. Im very devoted to Toyotas in general, i mean how many of you have this on your left arm??? http://toyotatruckworld.tenmagazines...Z125/96781.jpg
