Right any body got any good tips or know any ideas for me!
I want to buy a toyota supra but the insurance is crazy!

Im 18 years old with no no claims! But if need be i can use my mums 7 years no claims and ill go down second driver. But even that cost a bloody fortune. Your looking at bout 4000 a year for tht or 7000 in my own name!!!

I come up with 1 idea but can someone tell me is this legal?

OK i buy a shitty old banger and insure it full comp!
I buy the supra in my mums name and she insures it fully comp!
So technically i should be able to drive the supra with my mums consent but would only be covered third party! Because we are both fully comp!

Is this true???

Also if any body has any ideas at all please help me! I want this car!!! But cant get the insurance!

ok nick i am not sure what country you are in but by the way you mention fully comp etc i am guessing you are in the UK like myself, if so then this answer will apply to you but i cant speak for the laws in other countries as i dont know them. ( i am an insurance claims company owner and do know the british legalities of insurance )

Now in answer to your question the old banger that you buy would have to be kept road legal and taxed and mot'd, your mum would either have to drive the supra as her main car or she will have to insure it seperatley from her current car. The supra you buy would have to be registered as legally belonging to your mum and the banger would be registered to you. The british law actually states that what you would be doing is actually insurance fraud but if i speak as a normal guy i say they is no way of actually proving what your doing is wrong because no one can prove its not your mums car as long as the papers say its hers.

I didnt write that last bit honest, i dont want to lose my company licenses lol

Good luck

Yes im english!
So theres not sort of restrictiosn no ages or nouthing! e.g. If my mum insured it only people 25+ could drive it! Theres nouthing in any of the terms or conditons like that! Cause the last thing i would want to do is get the car but the insurance and then theres some legal restrictions!

Btw sort sort of insirance company would u reccommend??

you will probably find that with the supra being a 3 litre that yes there will be age restrictions on most insurance policies, I cant really recommend any as they are all different and all suit different circumstances and people. The only thing i would say is definately check that your not too young with the company you choose, You will however find the odd company who will let you drive it if you search well.

thats alot of legalities your looking at...personally in my opinion if you cant afford the insurance, you shouldnt drive the car. i had a chance to buy a supra when i was 18 for 1500 running. i couldnt afford the insurance, therefore didnt buy the car. when i was 23 i had the money to buy an 02 z28 camaro ss. fully loaded, 6spd & t tops. insurance for me was more than the car payment. it was horrible. im a very good driver with no accidents, all tickets (parking & registration) cleared from my record. it just led me up to getting a better paying job. besides, do you really want to risk the consequences that follow fraud against the law??
