Default Decided to buy a Supra

Ive really liked Supras for a long time now, and finally decided to buy one. unfortunately i dont really know much about them. I have $25000.00 to spend, and i want a car thats already modded out. ive been looking on japanese sites because ive found that theyre cheaper there. now the main question-- i found a couple older (1990-1993) models that have up to 900hp. then theres newish (95-97) with up to 680 hp. theyre all about the same price. whats the performance going to be for the older vs newer? which one do i want?

:S if it's on a japenese site it still has to be imported and that'll run you over double what your planning to spend plus out of province inspection and safety. Not to mention any shop you take it to will probably charge you to replace something ontop of that. I would suggust looking in your local area. I got a car trailer and drove about 3 hours to pick up mine. You just needa look for the right deal.

actually ive been researching this for a while now. the site i found will charge 6k for shipping, then its another 5k tops for inspection etc. my limit is 25k so id find a car for less then 15k. which ive actually found a lot of them. as far as taking it to a shop...i have a multitude of car savvy friends who work specifically on high end import cars. so all id need there is the parts. so the only question still, is do i want the newer or the older Supra?

ohh okay, I got quite the mis-understanding there. The only thing you gotta watch for is when you import them in the shipping process they get damaged and salt water will eat out the gaskets edventually. But basically all personal choice and liking. Since you got the money, do you prefer the mk3 body style or the mk4. If you want the power definately go for the MK4 RZ. Their twin turbo 6 speed and doesn't take much modification to make 300rwh. But if you like the MK3's widebody look and more retro style but are looking for the power you'll prolly be spending more time in the shop then on the roads upgrading your motor/turbo/intercooler ect. You pretty much have to upgrade to a metal head gasket with arp hardware first as well as their known to blow in the mk3. I still think their a reliable car though as thats what I'm building up atm.

I live in Japan and I paid 5K for my 94 Supra (i did overpay but it was kick ass) with a ton of mods and very, very nice. It only had 65 kil on it with BK and 20" rims. It is going to cost me 2-3K to ship it back to the US. A Supra is actually a junk car here and are a dime-a-dozen. I see 10 a day on the military base. All the sites that are trying to sell you these cars are in it for nothing but the money. They are buying cars that were junked here (owner did not want to pay 700 reg for the 2 years and road tax) and shipping them back (have to know how to do it, I do not). All in all, they might have 4K with shipping and everything else. You pay them 20K thinking it's a great deal but think again. If you really want a Supra from Japan and have 25K to spend, buy a 900.00 plane ticket and fly to Japan. Spend a week, buy a super nice Supra and ship it back yourself and save over 15K.

I was told all I need to change on my car to reg it was the windshield and maybe the doors. This is what Texas said but I have no idea if it is true. Either way I will bring mine back. I may have to list is as a track car to get it to my house and go from there.

Default Supras in japan

supras are not rare at all there and most of them have the twin turbo or turbo engine to them its like a piece of junk because they got skylines driving around constantly and I dont care what you say a good skyline will still smoke a supra but hell there trash is our US treasure if you can find a good deal and import fees are not too heavy do it the 94-98 supra is around 15-25k in the us might be cheaper to import.
