The STA signal to the ECU affects it but is not solely responsible.

No.... test it. RTFM man. Test/inspect the following: starter STA pin at ECU while the engine is being cranked, igniter, ignition coil, plug wires, spark plugs and AFM... Test them all when the car is acting up and then again when it's warm and starting fine, then compare results.

The ECU is pretty solid. It's very often suggested as the cause of someone's problem but VERY rarely is that the case... I'm not saying you're not that one lucky person out of a hundred but until you've actually tested all the possible components you shouldn't be spending any money on it.... well, new spark plugs and wires are seldom a bad investment and they're cheap.

So all this time you haven't even checked for diagnostic codes? I covered that in my FIRST reply to you.

And you mean "there's" as in "there is" not "theirs" as in "they" possessive with an "s" added for flavor. Sorry, the grammar thing just kills me.
