front air spoiler/scoop

If you are talking about the 2-3" black plastic air dam that bolts onto the bottom of the bumper in front, I took mine off. Most people take them off.
It won't make much difference in cooling. But what 'will' make a difference is if your missing the engine bay 'undershield'.

You at least need the very front part, like mine.

I made one from galvanized sheet metal that goes from the front of bumper to the frame that's directly under the radiator. I used existing threaded holes with 6mm bolts. That way air coming into the lower grill is 'forced' to go thru the radiator, and not just under it, and the car.

it was more like 2-3' (feet) square in size. it bolts on in about 5 or 6 spots under the engine. I did take mine off completely. I really couldnt tell you what it looks exactly like. I lost a bunch of it at high speed.

2-3 ft sq ??? are you talking about the piece that covers the bottom of the engine bay ??? the splash shield. , or are you meaning a piece that would be like
3-4" high x 2-3' across, bolted onto the bottom with approx 5 bolts, and projects down, to divert air and create a vacuum on the back side to draw more air thru the radiator. Many other types of cars have this piece.

It probably is the splash shield under the car. It may have already been broken in half. On mine it is a long, one piece of plastic that bolts on under the car, from the front air dam to just under the engine crank pulley. Maybe some of the others came in two pieces. I also built a sheet metal shroud for the part that goes from the air dam to just under the radiator. It is needed I think for cooling purposes. It also catches tools and nuts and bolts while working on the car....;-).

yea not many ppl have these on any more

i don't have a fan shroud or engine undercover... or any of that lol

while my hg was good i never had any cooling problems stayed 185deg in traffic and city areas all the time, highway i dropped to bout 180

but then our temps are slightly different over here... not roasting weather

Just curious on what the temps are there in NZ? Summertime here in Louisiana around 95 to 100 for three months. Makes you want to move right on over here doesn't it! I can't wait until our psuedo fall/winter gets here to see if I can turn off the cooling fan, just as a test of course. Roll the windows down, doesn't seem to rain here much either. Nothing sounds as good as a straight six with a good exhaust system, revving up through the gears.

Have you seen Bilbo yet?..;-}
