If you are talking about the 2-3" black plastic air dam that bolts onto the bottom of the bumper in front, I took mine off. Most people take them off.
It won't make much difference in cooling. But what 'will' make a difference is if your missing the engine bay 'undershield'.

You at least need the very front part, like mine.

I made one from galvanized sheet metal that goes from the front of bumper to the frame that's directly under the radiator. I used existing threaded holes with 6mm bolts. That way air coming into the lower grill is 'forced' to go thru the radiator, and not just under it, and the car.
