Exclamation Heater problems go " ohhh S#*%"

Well i thank all of those who helped and posted to my problem with the heat in my 92' supra. I did get the problem resolved today after many attempts and much spending of $. All of this work was in the end just a fein to lead into a larger problem. After fixing the heat i had been driving around all day without any problems. On my way home for the last time of the day though i noticed as i neared my house that the temp was starting to rise. As i drew even closer to my house i noticed a loud hiss coming from my dash to look and see the color of my carpet in the passenger floor pan changing to a darker shade of red. Yep...... after all of that to get my heat back the damn thing goes and cracked........ Does anyone know how much it will probably run me to have a shop change it out? I do not think that i have the skills that are required to change it my self after reading several posts and guides.

Thanks Jared.

Default Heater

Looks like you never got a response to this question. My 88 mkIII heater stopped working and the dealer told me my heater core was clogged and wanted about $1500 to replace it. I declined and drove it about 2-years without a working heater before I discovered this site with all the great help ideas. Turns out my heater core is NOT clogged but my VSV was not working and I just bypassed it as mentioned in the postings and the heater now works. Your situation is different and definitely sounds like a leaky core, so, if you want the dealer to replace it.......

Same thing actually happened to me, had a clogged core and after i flushed it out it started leaking however was a much smaller leak, replaced the core. Afterwards still no heat, had to switch around the vacumm on the heater vsv to where it opens no matter what soon as i start the car.

Another pain is getting that coolant out of the floor board, i thought i had a leak still after i replaced the core, turned out it was all just from the orignal leak. Coolant is a pain to get outa the floor board, i left a shop vac on it for hours lol
