1) a good diagnostic technician can easily work on MKIIIs, and should be able to find the problem.
2) I to am thinking the new sensor may be the wrong one. 3) The idle is adjusted by the ECU, which looks at all the data from all the sensors. The ISC valve on the intake manifold is what 'actually' controls it. 4) perhaps there is some other cause to your high idle. 5) it is a 'one step at a time' process of elimination.
