O.K., I got her home, but had to call tow truck. I put it on jumper cables first, and let it charge, but not long enough. Usually when running, the voltometer reads between 12 and 18. With cables on it was at 12. Took em off and it stayed at 12 at idle. Started driving and it dropped to 6! Is this the alternator as I and most of you suspect? That shouldn't be too difficult to fix will it. It looks rather straight forward. I have 89 N/A. I just put new belts on and they're nice and snug. Could the alternator just crap out on me like this?
Scruff P.S. I just went on cygnus and got instructions. I now have old alternator off. Before I put new one on, should I be looking for anything else? Last edited by scruffboy; 06-15-2006 at 07:52 PM. |
