I was wondering if anyone knew if a 5mge tranny will bolt up to a 7mge motor. I figured since they both have similar characteristics they would use the same tranny. Any clarification would be great help ^_^.

(I did search the forums and google and had a hard time find anything on this)

I would think that you would be better off with a 7mge tranny for a 7mge engine, considering the 7mge engine has more horses, and depending on what your looking to do with the 7mge, if your looking to increase the horsepower at all, i would say the 7mge tranny is gonna be able to take more horsepower then the 5mge.

yes, they are the same. tranny code w58(non-turbo) or r154(turbo) standard 5 spd.

Yes the 5MGE trans will bolt up to a 7MG motor but you are better off using a R154 trans form a MKIII turbo. The R154 is built much stronger that the W85 this found on th 5MG and 7MG non turbo.
