Default Where EXACTLY is the key code?

My Supra was leaking oil so I took it to my local trusted shop. They told me that I needed a new timing belt and where the leak was. I told them to fix it and "while they were at it" could they fix the latch for the rear deck. They told me that it isn't broken; it is in valet mode and I need the non-valet key to get it open. I don't have an original key so I am going to be taking the passenger door apart this weekend. I need to know EXACTLY where I am looking for the code. I've seen the code (my Camry has one) but I would like to know how much of the door I am actually taking apart to be able to read the code.

Thanks.

I don't know what that means. Am I taking the lock itself apart to get this?

Not the lock itself, but you'll need to pull the lock out of the door handle.

This really sucks. I can't believe there isn't someplace to get this.

For future reference, it isn't THAT bad. The number itself (or what better be the number) is on a flat metal tab attached to the lock cylinder. Once you get the door panel off there is a hole in the sheet metal through which you can look to read the 4 digit code off the tab. I didn't take the lock out of the door (and am not excited about the idea of doing that having seen the insides of the door) but given that the hole was covered by a black plastic disc that is clearly designed to be peeled off to read through the hole I can't help but think that the number I read *is* the key code.

Ok, is is THAT bad. The number on that metal tab has nothing to do with the keycode. I had Toyota make me a part from that number and while it was a valid keycode it was not MY keycode. That is on the lock cylinder. I think I could have read it off the bottom using a dentist's angled mirror and not taken the thing out. Next I time I don't have the key for a '90 Supra I'll know just what to do.
