The only time its "common" to have rust on a car is when it was not taken care of. It also means it was driven in the winter with all the salt and shit they use on the roads so I'd bet all the suspension and brake components are shot to shit also.
To put it in perspective I have an 87 turbo with no rust at all. Not even a bubble in the paint. That was the main thing I looked for when I bought mine, I didn't care how it ran or drove as long as the body was straight so I had a good platform to work with. The only way to fully repair it is to cut all the rust out, you can't just sand it or bondo it. Body work sucks, its way harder than any form of mechanical work. |
