Default i got some problems 88 non turnbo

when i start my car the rpm jums up and down, until it gets lower and just shuts off. anyone know what the problem is? the check engine light isnt on or anything.

Check a pipe that comes out of the intake manifold toward the firewall. I think its called the EGR?

Alot of things can cause an idle surge. Look in the tsrm and see what it lists for idle surge.

Check your Throttle position sensor on the throttle body cause its probably hosed. Its in the TSRM how to do this. Ive had the problem at least 3 times in 8 years with my supra and its allways been a bad TPS. I don't have an EGR valve so I can't vouch for those.

hmm when my rpms where jumpin around, it was because of the wires for the CPS and the coil pack harness wires where melted.

hmm wait them non turbo supras have distributors dont they, my bad oh well.

Yes..., we have distributors, caps and rotors.

Some of us even have MSD.
