Default Whats the best catylac converter size

Ok this is the story... i bought an Apexi exhaust Tip its three inch piping of course and im going to have a custom pipe installed for it..but i also need a new cat. and i was wondering if the size of the cat would make n e different on sound and mainly performance. I know a shop dat offers about three or four different sizes. theres a reglar($100) size a medium($75) and a small (25) and its really small i say length wise shoter then a foot cat....i have about lets say 200 to spend for custom bend and cat...without going over that price dramatically which one do u guys recomend in standard cat and high performance cat....
thank you

Well, at my shop, we only install magnaflow cats. because they work great, and last a long time.

Since you are in CAL. you will be going to smog tests (Test Only is most likely).

Those tiny cats probably won't get you thru the test. We see it all the time. If the car does make it, we call them 'one pass cats' because it likely will not pass next time.

Check out magnaflow online. http://www.magnaflow.com/

If your car is running 'really' nice, and all the systems are working normally, then a performance cat should be OK. But if anything else is wrong, the perf. cat may not work as efficient as a regular size 'normal' one.

The perf. cats tend to flow more freely.

I recommend going with a 2.5" system for a N/A, and 3" for turbo.

On mine, with everything tight and new and NO exhaust leaks, I can sometimes smell exhaust.

Sometimes you will get some fuel that has more sulfur in it than at other times. The cat will cause it to burn and smell bad, especially on the de-cel (letting off the throttle).

Also......
My seal on the back hatch is torn along the bottom, with some cracks. Its right where it will get damaged from putting things into the trunk, like luggage, so prbably lots of supras have this problem.

I know that's where it comes in at.

The seal is about $65 at dealer.

On mine, the rest of it is good, and rain does not enter, so I just don't spend the $$

If the heater/ac is on with the fan, and outside air coming in (not recirc), it will keep the smell from coming in because the cabin is pressurized.
