Default TEMS conversion?

Is it possible to convert a NON-TEMS equipped MKIII Supra N/A (1987) to a TEMS Equipped Supra? If so how would it be done? I have looked for instruction on how to do something like that as I heard the TEMS system is absolutly awesome. I can't see it being that difficult, just a bit expensive.

Also what is the benefit of the LS400 AFM. Do I have to get new injectors? if new injectors are needed what cc should I get?

*edit* Also does anyone know where I can find a stock wing (like the ones on the turbo models)?

Thanks guys!

i dont really know a lot about the tems but i pretty sure you need upgraded fuel injectors because they have to be able to support all the air coming in(pretty sure thats how it works) and the wing i think you can get it from the dealer, junkyard, and i would search the forums.

TEMS is the adjustable suspension. My guess is yes you can do it, you'll need the housings for each strut tower, the harness's for all 4, the TEMS buttons for the center console, the struts, of course, and I'm not sure what else. Honestly you might as well go with coil overs and get one that has a remote adjuster for the cabin.

Hmmm true however TEMS is a smart system. Automatic adjustment without the need for manual and from what I can see (believe it or not) it would actually be cheaper than the coil overs with the maual adjustment module. Plus for some reason I like stock upgrades when it comes to how it looks. (This isn't really a performance upgrade so much as it is becuase I love my Supra and it should have come with all the premium stuff to begin with). I think the strus are the same as the NON TEMS ones I thinnk it is more the absorbers.....I dunno, i have still been looking but have anyone found any place online for instruction to this, or found anywhere online to order the wing? Thanks for the response on the injectors. But what level injectors do i need? 500cc or higher?
Chris

TEMS requires TEMS compatible struts. Such as ones from toyota or Tokico Illumina II's. It's basically a manually adjusted strut, but the cap that sits on top of it is an electronically controlled servo, hooked to the TEMS button in the cabin. Sport and Normal are the options, 2 settings. What it does is when you select Sport <or normal depending on what setting it's already at> it sends a signal to the servo's in the strut towers to turn a knob on top of the TEMS compatible struts. Struts and shock absorbers are basically the same thing in respects to what they do.

Not trying to tell you NOT to do it, just making sure you have all the information in front of you and you know the difference, or similarity in TEMS and coil-overs. The Supras equiped with TEMS came with the sport package. Had the headlight washer, LSD rear end, I believe different clutch packs as well. If you want to put a TEMS unit in your NON-TEMS Supra I'd suggest finding one in a junk yard or post a want to buy in the want to buy section here on the board and see how your luck goes!

There's a link of all the parts involved. Looks like there is a computer on the 90 supra's. On my 86.5 that had one, it wasn't as "involved".

Anyway no worries. Got he list of parts needed and all said and done, ordering all parts off of EBAY itll be around $400. (Wanted the Performance versions of all)
Secondly thank you for fast response on Injectors, but I am having a hard time finding the LS400 AFM....Anyone know where I can find it?
Last but not least when did the new TSRM get up? Looks nice.
*edit* and thanks guys for so much help in these matters your awesome!
