Thumbs up Its Alive And Runs Great!

Well it took me 3 days to get the engine in and put together. Well today we fired it up for the first time and boy did it ever purrrr like a kitten. Well then we start hearing tap-tap-Tap-Tap-TAp-TAp-TAP then spudder and it dies...Well it sounded like it was coming from the head...I thought lets check the timing belt. Well we left to let it cool down. Came back took the front cover off and sure enough the belt was loose and so was the cam pulleys....then the fighting of, "I thought you tightened those down!".....well got it back together and timing set agian and it fired right up and purrrrred. We took it for a spin and it ran great. We seem to have an oil leak from somewhere. We think it might be where the head gasket and the front aluminum bellhousing meet...bad place. I dunno guess well have to see in the day light of tomorrow.
Thanks all for who helped me with the questions I asked on this forum...

Sounds great. Did you get the ront cover machined with the block, or did you even do that? Maybe you will get lucky and find it's only the cam seals or the distributor seal. Sometimes, if the engine has been cleaned by a machine shop, the front and rear oil gallery plugs don't get tight or they put the wrong ones in.

What ever the case, these cars sound great don't they!!!

Yea we forgot to have the front aluminum part machined with the block so we did it by hand and we put silicon on it but only on the bottom of the head gasket...we forgot to put some on the top of the HG. Its got brand new seals but I dont think the distributor seal has been replaced.
What are these cars suppose to idle at cold? when i first start mine it idles at 1200RPM and as it warms up it slowly goes down a little?

What are you talking about when you say, "sound good dont they"??? You cant hear this car at all its so quite and soooo smooth that sometimes I think it dies when I stop at lights and stuff and then I look down and its still running. It runs smoother than my cadillac and of course my V8 truck.

look at your exhaust man. the back muffler is about the size of a baby cow.

mine idles at 1k or so cold / warm. but i dont know if that's actually normal.

So I bought this old Honda bike, an NSR250. Bit of a street racer, I guess. I'm told they're fast.

Delivering it home with a friend driving the Supra for the first time. I drop gears and make a scream from the twin pipes flowing down this pony's flanks and it takes off like it's tail's on fire.

I look back when the Honda gets to its tap-out and the Supra's only two lengths behind. No one I've let ride my bike has told me its slow, they've all loved the thing. That car is a good thing indeed.

There is really no fix for the oil leak unless you take head or the front cover off and somehow can put sealant on both sides of the gasket. The engine is going to have some air pressure built and will evetually blow the sealant out and you can't force it in because the sealant won't stick to anything with oil on it. It is a pain in the butt for sure, but in the long run, not having oil running down the front of the engine, then down the sides, is worth the extra work.

Even with my modified exhaust it is pretty quiet at idle, but when you get on it..........nice. Get a better, less restrictive muffler system and you will see, or hear what we mean.

Well I want my car too stay quiet but I want to get rid of the cats.
Whats the cheapest and easiest way to get rid of them?
My cousin had his hondas cat sleeved for $40.
but i want to completely remove the first cat and maybe sleeve the second and maybe get a better turbo elbow.
