They should work on the rear, there's a good possibility that they will rub on the fronts while turning. Also this is assuming you have a stock suspension.
Keep in mind, the larger tires on the rear will affect the accuracy of your speedometer

It is not a wise idea.
225 50 16= overall diameter of 24.86 225 70 16= overall diameter of 28.4 The result will be a higher center of gravity and more sidewall.
