Question Tire Size for stock 16x7

I have the stock 225/VR16 Goodyear Eagle GT's on my '87 Supra with stock wheels (they're chrome though). Anyone know what Tire widths that I can go up to on the stock wheels? Can I do 245's or 255's? Will there be any clearance issues? Safety issues? thanks guys.

Cool

245-50-16 is it on the stock rims. I did. Rims are only 7" wide. That will put you 1" larger diameter (1/2" rim-to-road). You won't notice any power issues. You can go 245-45-16 to stay the same diameter.

Check these 2 sites for some more info.

I don't have any photos. The 245-50-16 are 1" wider than 225-50-16. They fit tighter on the rim, but won't give you any problems.

If you ever buy new aftermarket rims, go with at least 17". They will look better than 16", and you will get a lot more tire choices. Often at a better price than the 16". (because there are so many cars with 17")
