Default knock sensor replacement

Anybody have any tips on replacing a knock sensor? Any other routine check ups recommended when replacing knock sensor?

Yes. Chances are your knock sensor themselves are not bad. Most likely the wiring to the ecu from the knock sensor its a real common problem and pretty easy to do.

Here is a good link

Not sure. But both are under the intake manifold. The front one is easy to get to just behind the alter. And above the ground bolt. The back one not so much you have to pull the starter to get the plug off. Or to replace the sensor.

Does anyone know the pin numbers going into the ecu for the knock sensors. My car is setting a 52 code and i have no power going to the sensors. Oh and how much voltage does the knock sensors have going to them.

You have to find the KS wire coming from the ECU harness. There are three ECU harnesses connected to the ECU, the one that has the KS wire is the harness in the middle, it's the only two transparent wires there on the middle harness. Even if it's not on the middle ECU harness, you should be able to find because it's the only two transparent wires out of all those three harness wires (for all MK3yrs). DO NOT cut the two wires at the harness, cut it at the furthest point away from the ECU harness (where the harness electrical tape ends and where you start to see the color wires for the first time). You should have about 5 to 6 inches of KS wire on the ECU harness after you cut at where the electrical tape ends.

Ok I found the 2 wires at the ecu. I havent had much time to work with it but I have checked power at the ks connector on the engine with my power probe. Its not showing any voltage but instead it is showing a ground this is the part I have been trying to understand

That is because the wire that is for the ks is like a coax cable the main wire inside with a bigger ground outside wire casing so the wire doesn't get interference and the outer wire is grounded some where to the body. So to do the rewire you need small coax cable and solder the wire inside to the connetor and the outer casing wire to a ring lug then ground it. Took me and hour to remover the alt, solder and run the wire but I have a 7mge and it only has one KS.
