Hey everybody, I've recently done a rebuild on my 7M-GE 87 supra. Basically it's got a very loud an irritating engine whine coming from the intake side. The noise is excruciating when you let off the gas so I'm thinking it has something to do with vacuum. The car starts but the only way to keep it running is by peddling the throttle. PLEASE HELP!
![]() I have a video posted on YouTube which van be found here to listen and try to diagnose the noise http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7U-Vt...e_gdata_player |

It acts and sounds like a vacuum leak, get some WD-40, carb cleaner or brake clean, spray in the general area it is coming from, if it momentarily stops you know it is a vacuum leak...

I was hoping it would be as simple as that, I have tried it and it didn't really do anything, but it's hard enough to keep the car running by peddling the throttle. :/

It the throttle plate closing all the way when the throttle is released? Is there the appropriate amount of slack in the throttle cable?
Run an unlit propane torch or spray carb cleaner along the flange unions of all of the intake components while the car is idling. When it buckles/hiccups you've found a leak. BE CAREFUL!!!! You should also pull the idle speed control valve and make sure it's clean without obstruction. How is the car's idle?
