Default Mk3 part availability

Well right now I have a 1978 datsun 280z and i literally have to make parts for it there are not parts really available for these cars to mod the fuel system without spending an arm and leg. Now there are a LOT of mk3 supras in my area going for very cheap and i can sell my car in the current condition for about 3500 dollars. I was curious are there a big aftermarket for the mk3 supra turbo cars with a 5 speed and 7mgte? I know there is a large market for the 2j cars but I do not know if there is a large aftermarket for the the mk3s.

Info would be great!

as for the datsun i am MAKING and left rear control arm nothing is available...

its another name fore the ecu or ecm whatever you want to call it. the computer that controls timing and fuel etc. I would like to have something OTHER than mega squirt, not aem either. If i can run a honda or gm ecu than i can run the 12 pin chip for the ostrich from moates.net which then i can tune on the fly - very easily.

How available parts are is relative... There are MANY platforms with a better selection and much better pricing. If you're not happy from the lack of availability or cost of your current platform I HIGHLY recommend you shop around with the online retailers to see how easy it is to find some of the items you consider common and also the parts that commonly need repaired or replaced.

There are a lot of people putting down a good amount of power with just the stock ECU and a fuel controller; Then there are those running the stock ECU with the MAFT Pro (AFM deletion, fuel controller, timing control, boost control and closed loop functionality... it's pretty much what you get if stay one step below a full stand alone). The most popular standalone EMS is probably AEM's. MS and Motec aren't uncommon. I haven't seen anyone run a EMS from another make.

the biggest problem with z cars are there are non in the junkyards anymore and there is a following but they did not make enough of these cars like they did the muscle cars the vettes the pony cars. heck they made a ton of rx7s but with i don't trust rotary motors- i would rather build a car that has the motor in it already that is good to build. i am also looking at bmw e30 325is or an e36 obd1 m3 or 325is. there is a large following for them plus they have an eprom chip. but the price on those cars are much more than i can pick up an already factory turbo supra mk3 for. i have been watching the rx7s for cars that already have swaps done but they are mostly ford v8s which i am more of a chevy guy if i am going muscle.

so things like if i were to snap a control arm would i be able to find one? as far as the ecu goes guess i am not a huge fan of piggy back systems- but if there are a lot of guys running them with no issues... i just have seen issues with piggy backs like on hondas and dsm stuff etc.

problem with tuning the piggyback systems is mostly human error. the ecu's in the supras are incredibly advanced for the time they were produced.

but at the same time from my understanding they did not use any kind of eprom chip correct?
