Smile '87 N/A Flex-Fuel

Has anyone here tried or have had any experience with alternative fuels such as E-85 in the supra? Posted this on Toyota Nation also. Thinking about experimenting with my N/A Supra. I know the common issues in regard to the aspects of using alcohol for fuel but wonder if anyone has been there done that. Thanks for any input.

Do you know that alcohol attract water?
And that alcohol will rot out the neoprene (rubber) hoses.
The vehicles that are designed for flex fuel have got different components that can handle alcohol.

I was talking to a guy with this b4
But he's a dsm guy tho
He has a methanol shot on his other car
And the other one runs on
E85,

I think he mentioned that e85 is alcohol
Which burns faster than gasoline, and can burn cooler
All I have to do is basically double the fuel delivery setup that I got with the 93octane

So im trying to do a
Dual walbro 225lph
And the 12-injector setup
And basically changing all of my hoses
What type of hoses should I be looking at?

Thumbs up flex fuel

After reading my last post - I have to apologize. I wasn't trying to be smug - I was actually just in a big hurry. It's my plan to convert my rough "project car" to running on 85% ethanol or more sometime next summer after my wife graduates from college - because that's where this middleclass paycheck is dedicated to right now. A project like this has many aspects exactly like you mentioned. Living in the midwest we have easy access to ethanol and we've powered the wife's minivan with it for years - and yes it was flex fuel OE. Many folks do convert pre "flex fuel" vehicles to run on this stuff. I do know that replacing many components of the fuel system to make this work "well" will have to be done. I just thought that maybe someone here has already done this or knows someone that has. I'm just trying to get as much info in my head as possible before I get started on this next year. Alcohol as a fuel certainly has it's pros and cons. Tough on components first of all , and harder to start in the winter - although I have started it at 10 below using an E-70 mix - just because someone said I couldn't, and it also doesn't get the mileage you get out of gas. As of today it's 70 cents cheaper at the pump than gas here - which does fluctuate. I'm going to do this and get this six to run on it. This is a really great forum, and next year I'll try to keep you posted on my project and if I can remember I'll keep the dig. camera handy. Wish me luck.
