Fuel Octane
These are the recommended fuels as printed in the "Supra Handbook" that is so popular on the internet:
Fuel type: 7M-GE engine: For optimum engine performance, Toyota recommends using premium type unleaded gasoline with an octane number of 95 or higher (Research Octane Number). If such premium type cannot be obtained, you may use unleaded gasoline with an octane number as low as 91. 7M-GTE engine: Unleaded gasoline with an octane number of 97 or higher (Research Octane Number). I have never seen an American Gas Station that sells octanes this high. Is this a misprint, or does Japan sell fuel processed to this level? I do not want to put a premium octane fuel in my engine if it is not going to be totally combusted. I do not think my car produces compression levels that warrant such a high octane level. Am I safe using 89 Octane fuel in my Non-Turbo 1989 Supra? What is the low down on the type of fuel for Supras? Scruffboy |

I don't know the "low down" on that...but I have been running that 89 crap in my supra for about 4 months now....no problems, but it is a little underpowered. I'm going to put in premium today...see where that gets me!
I'll report back if there is anything different...I suspect that there will be a power increase, but that is the only thing I can think of. Higher octane facilitates in "de-carboning" your engine, but with gas prices now of days....if I can use the 97.5 cent/liter "normal" fuel....I will. Specially going into winter....you get colder air, thus more power...so I shouldn't need to run any higher octane, it will just make me spin easier.... ...and just a reminder....we don't live in igloos up here....but I make one in my yard every year to get a kick out of the "out of town-ers" that come through my city....lol. I make the igloo...then I run some extension cords out there, and play vid games, or bring my computer out there, and play internet games (Wireless internet from the house).

Igloos!
Why don't you build one for your Supra. Kinda like the bat cave. Imagine your neighbors seein ya pull out of a giant igloo in your driveway. that would be too cool.
