'87 N/A Flex-Fuel

After reading my last post - I have to apologize. I wasn't trying to be smug - I was actually just in a big hurry. It's my plan to convert my rough "project car" to running on 85% ethanol or more sometime next summer after my wife graduates from college - because that's where this middleclass paycheck is dedicated to right now. A project like this has many aspects exactly like you mentioned. Living in the midwest we have easy access to ethanol and we've powered the wife's minivan with it for years - and yes it was flex fuel OE. Many folks do convert pre "flex fuel" vehicles to run on this stuff. I do know that replacing many components of the fuel system to make this work "well" will have to be done. I just thought that maybe someone here has already done this or knows someone that has. I'm just trying to get as much info in my head as possible before I get started on this next year. Alcohol as a fuel certainly has it's pros and cons. Tough on components first of all , and harder to start in the winter - although I have started it at 10 below using an E-70 mix - just because someone said I couldn't, and it also doesn't get the mileage you get out of gas. As of today it's 70 cents cheaper at the pump than gas here - which does fluctuate. I'm going to do this and get this six to run on it. This is a really great forum, and next year I'll try to keep you posted on my project and if I can remember I'll keep the dig. camera handy. Wish me luck.
