Regina drift day

Well Regina drift day was a smashing success! Friday I took the supra out for its official make it or break it run, took it to toyota and they checked out my oil pressure problem and narrowed it down to the pressure sending unit. From there I bumped into my friends randomly while driving back home and we ended up heading to the shop out in the boonies. We que'd the music and worked on the cars from 3 pm to 2 am that night to get them ready for the drive to Regina. Needless to say it was a long/short night, we all only got about 2 hours of sleep before heading out.
Attachment 4724 My brother and I were up by 5;30 am, I slept in big time due to only getting back home at 3 am. So we quickly packed up the car with all the camera gear and put the tires to the pavement. Got the the buddies place at 630 and loaded up the rest of the stuff and off we went. Attachment 4725 We ended up getting to Regina at 9:30 am but got lost trying to find the track. Turned out we missed a turn almost immediately and went a mile or two off track but it didnt take us long to correct and we made it to the track with 10 min to spare before the driver lockout. Attachment 4726 We were still some of the first people to arrive but by the 10am cut off the pits had filled up and driver briefing began. Attachment 4727 Attachment 4728 |

Attachment 4730 Attachment 4731 Before long the drivers briefing was over and it was time to lay down some big time rubber. I tried to get video with my cell phone but it was so windy most of the footage was junk. The first casualty was a 95 skyline gt-r with the r34, guy came with the intent to blow it up so he could put his new motor in. Got it to the pits smoking bad and then put the pedal down, ended with a rod going through the block. haha ya the guy said it was the best $2500 he ever spent!
I've been busy searching for parts for the supra like crazy, finally put another add on Kijiji for what I was looking for and finally got a couple replies. Might be getting a new hatch soon if the price is right. I finally found a new wiper control module, and I have two wiper speeds now but its still not really fixed, has to be the column switch like you stated before then. What a piss off!!:crazy2: |
let me know if you want me to get you a set of column switches, because there is currently an 84 getting parted out in my neck of the woods, and i can get it cheap. as well as any other small parts.

Might not be getting a new hatch after all, the guy from s'toon had a mint black 85 he was trying to get rid of cuz the engine was toasted and he had it crushed monday! :nono: So back to square one on the hatch idea. |
dam wish i still had my spare hatch, sold it 2 years ago to a friend of a friend...

I want to paint my car the exact same color now....... sooo sexy! Attachment 4740 Attachment 4741 |
i know i could get my hands on a hatch for you, but im not sure if it would be worth the shipping...
dam that dark silver or gray looks good.... im a big fan of flat black mark twos aswell. |
ya shipping would be total murder, I'll just have to wait and bid my time until something comes up on kijiji again. That mk2 was dark blue metallic, definitely like it better then my light blue metallic.
Any progress on yours at all? |
im waiting to get paid out for a job i did, then i will have enough money to spare for the ida/idf webers. plus i have been absorbed in a 6mge corolla project.
|
oow nice, you be making updates on your supra thread then?
You have a build thread on the corrolla I could check out? what tran you running in the corolla? Sorry for the late reply, comp's graphic card is on the way out and it konks out every ten min.:frown: Little update on my beloved supra.....its parked for the winter. Plates run up on it, plus on the last day of being insured the cords blew out of the side wall on my right front tire. Totally amazed I made it 130 km on it to be honest, don't get how it held, yes my tires are that old! |
late reply myself.
running the w58 in the corolla, just ordered a fuel pump yesterday for it. any updates on the celipra?? |
nice, how much fab work you gotta do to make your 6m/w58 set up fit?
I'm just starting to collect some parts for the summer to do list, sourced some used parts from Vancouver. Got a power steering line coming along with some miscellaneous switch's etc, I'll take a pick of the parts when I get them. I'm paying down the good old credit card to so I can buy some new parts soon as well. Also have a big oil leak I need to find asap, I think its the rear main seal but I wanna double check before I order all my parts. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to ya! |
well the 6m block sits about 4 inches forward from the stock rolla mounting location, BUT the w58 bolted right in, and the 5speed front half shaft fitted right onto the rear half shaft of the corolla. it was a perfect fit.
if i landed the engine farther back, the drive shaft would have needed to be modified, and i would have to move the portioning valve for the front brakes. and all the lines... but as a down side of where it is...it currently is touching the brake master cylinder, and i need to fab up some bars to hold the motor from twisting from torque and tearing off the master brake cylinder:nuts: pics coming soon. |
Some solid engine mounts would help with the movement a good bit, it'd save ya time on having to make a lot of bracing that way......to bad brakes are important, or I'd just say delete that shit! Its a good thing you don't have to make a whole new shaft that stuffs big $$ and annoying. Looking forward to seeing the pic's man, I'll just have to remember to quit being lazy and keep better tabs on the forums.
I've done next to nothing really on my supra, got 2 used cold start injectors from a CS.com member and installed one about a week ago but haven't got around to starting the old girl up yet because the batteries pooched again. Oh and I got 2 new tires for the front, just need to finish up paint on my one rim so I can move on to the miserable 20 hours of hand sanding the next.:squint: Been working to much on the talon lately trying to get it straight and back on all 4's. My deal on a hatch fell through so I'm back to square one with that again as well. But good new is my buddy's shop is almost done, they'll be installing the new car lift soon right away so maybe I can coy my way into making them let me use it. |
