O.k. So it turns out I have a blown head gasket on my 86 Supra. Blown between 2 and 4, and 5 and 6 cylinders. Sent head out to be checked for warpage. What else would you do now that I have the head off the car? I had an oil leak that I am still not sure what the source was. Maybe the HG was causing that. The car has 157000 miles on it. Thanks for any suggestions.

what i would do, if clean the block surface as good as you can with some break cleaner (gunk) and make sure that surface is too good to eat off of...
also clean up anything you would not be able to reach with the head on... it all depends on what YOU want to do with the car. also that oil leak may have been a hg or it may not have been. most common spot if the cam towers my friends went about a month ago... also heard if you dont rtv your cam towers WITH new gasket there gona leak... another possiblity is just your valve covers, obviously there removed, just grab some gaskets for them also and rtv them up aswell! make sure to use a good heat rated rtv or other on all your engine component...

Thanks canadian, that helps. I am assumeing that rtv is a sealant product? Can I find it at any automotive parts store? I am checking into the cam towers next.

New valve cover gaskets are rubber and should not get RTV
For cam tower gaskets (metal) use that copper spray stuff |
