It's snake oil in a can. It probably won't do any harm, but in a well-worn engine there's no real fix for worn bearings, thinned rings, tired oil pumps and bad valve seals other than replacing them....

Guess again. The bolt holes in question are for your front seat belts, not the rear. It's the anchor point for that end of the belt receptacle as well as the guide bar that fit's into the housing on...

Here's a picture of a MkII and a MkIII. The newer body style of the MkIII began with the 86.5. The first pic (on the left) is a MkIII. The MkII is on the right.

What's the date of manufacture on the drivers-door frame plate? Silly suggestion perhaps, but if it's still there it should resolve the issue for you.

Sounds like the bolt-holes for the seatbelt and the seat-guide from what you're describing. Pictures would help lock that ID down if you get the chance.

Not that I've ever heard. The '85 came with the A43DL or A43DE, while the automatic on '88 is the A340E. IIRC the housings are too dissimilar for you to use one off an '85.

With that much movement your carrier bearing is shot. Now, whether or not you want to go to the trouble of replacing it is something I can't answer. I've never done it so I can't tell you how...

Yes, they did have different diff's with different ratio's. GE's I believe tended to have the 4.31, with GTE's carrying the 3.7 or 3.9.

Aside from the greater number of or heavier clutch packs...

My two cents? You don't want to do a 60-1 upbuild with the CT26. Too much wheel in the relatively small housing, questionable reliability as far as upgrades go. The 57 trim is about your best bet...

To the best of my knowledge the only real difference is the number of clutch packs, with the GTE A340 having more of them to handle the increased torque. I thought all the gears were the same in the...

Exhaust manifold leaks aren't unknown on the 7M. In fact, if I remember correctly the relative softness of the head allows the EM studs to back/strip out eventually. That could well be the cause of...
