Even if you drive perfectly smooth, if you have the traction and hp, your gears are going to break. Thats what im trying to fine out about, what is the point where they actually break. You got it right with engaging the gears and traction, but the HP does matter lol. I can put slicks on a stock 1980 vw rabbit and the diff isnt going to break lol.

The turbo trans (r-154) for our cars can hold a lot. Maybe even 1000 hp. If you got a r-154 you got nothing to worry about.
