 Hello all first post on this forum. A fellow supra owner told me that he changed his ecu unit and it increased his horsepower by 40. This was on a turbo and he didn't know if it would work on a non turbo. Mine is an 88. Does anyone know if this would work on mine and what kind of ecu am I looking for. He said they only cost around $75.00. Thanks in advance for any replies.....TT

unfortunately your friend is very misguided

the only ecu that will increase your hp is a standalone and alot of tuning and they are nowhere near $75... damn i wish they were lol

so yea.. don't waste your time or money on what ever ecu chip this is
it's probly the same thing that's on ebay... a resistor you put inline with the ecu temp sensor

hows about postin up some specs on ya car anyhow... colour, pics, interior.. leather/cloth... etc etc etc ya know

Thanks for the reply suprra_girl Would I have a lot of work or expense with the inline resistor? First chance I get to take a shot with a digital camera I will post the pics the car is in great shape. Any thoughts on mouldings for a maroon 88? Mine are great but I know in the future I will need to replace most of them so I figured I might as well start collecting them now. I also have a 87 but I let it go too far and the rust got out of control so I'm using it for any parts I want to put in my 88. Basically I would just like to increase the horsepower without going to too much expense. The does not have any extras other than a new magna flow muffler systems and a new cat which I purchased a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for your suggestions.....TT

the resistor thing is a scam.... just a quick buck money scheme imo

best thing you can do for the car

intake & exhaust are your cheapest and first mods you should do

the more you can make a car breath the more power you will get.... mrnickleye has a post in the FAQ's regarding exhaust systems which is quite informative
