if you can smell coolant it may be throwing it out of the overflow bottle or you may have another leak, check under the car make sure theres no drips
check all hoses in and around the engine for leaks, you'll see little stains from old water check the water level in the radiator as it may be low do you hear a waterfall sound in the dashboard when you start it up cold?

radiator promblms
i just had had to replace the radiator in my car to it is an 87 supra what hapend was the platic contaners on top and bottom of the radiator basicly dryed out and craked. i was losing fluid but couldnt find any leaks. so one hot day i went out drove aroung some then stoped and opend the hood and ther was just a little streem of fluid coming out of the top of the radiator i got a brand new radiator for around 175 an it is runing alot better now
