Polarity is not an issue. Mine had the same troubles. Its a supra thing.

The trouble is in the light assy., not the door switches.

I found the ground circuit does not make a good contact, for one thing.

I also had to screw with it all for 3 hours. I had to re-solder the wires to the terminals 3-4 times to make a goog connection. It was a real nightmare project, but they've been working now for 3 years.

yeah I'm too lay to screw with my lights for that long. i just use the visor mirror to pack my bowls......

well some bulbs for cars are meant to be 6v but they have resistors and diodes that only make them work with a certain polarity, and so they can run on 12 volts. Same with LEDs, becuase they are diodes. But i need my dome light to work, because i deliver pizza. lol. Its very helpful
