well to answer the original question, the mk3 can have a number of engines swapped into it, to my knowledge, i know that it can take the 7mge non turbo, the 7mgte turbo, the 1jzgte jdm turbo motor, or that one ford v6 or v8 or sumtin of that sort, as for the mk4 i know that the two factory motors the 2jzge and teh 2jzgte obviously are interchangeable and also the 1jzgte also fits into that chassis, so as for supras they are pretty swappable...you just gotta find what you want, toyota engines are pretty much as swappable as hondas...though not as common like i know the 3sgte from the 93-95 mr2 turbos can be put into the all-trac celicas as well as the ae86, but then again.. as u can see the honda motor can be placed in a lot of their cars... and toyota only a select few can manage an easy motor swap

The real question is WHY you would want to swap the engine... If it's not a turbo car, I can see swapping in a turbo engine, but it's not neccessary at all, the engines are VERY powerful and overbuilt stock, no need to swap IMHO...

well...even if u had a nonturbo motor that you wanted turbo, there isnt a big need to swap it out for a turbo motor, you can always buy a turbo kit which usually comes with all the stuff you need, either that or make your own custom kit, there is more than one way to get teh benefits of a turbo motor on a nonturbo motor

the toyota soarer came out with a v8 in some models, anyone know if that can drop into a supra ? and what comes in the kit to turbo a n/a supra ? still end up with a distributor and a coil, instead of 3 coils and an igniter ? just curious.
and why swap the engine out ? when my standard car was running it'd flog any accord like a dead horse. just watch out for the Supra Head Gasket of Death. oh and always use anti-freeze. keeps the rust outta the fastory head gasket and block. that's the only reason my supra did its. |
