Default Non-start update

So, this past weekend I replaced the starter motor with a different brand - Bosch. So far the beast is working great. The symptoms support a "limp" starter in that repeated key clicking would eventually get it to turn over. Also, it seemed to be more likely not to start when the engine was hot and then sat for a few minutes (increasing cylinder gas pressure).

I had ignored this possibility because I had replaced the starter before a couple times with no apparent long term fix (as I recall now, it did work OK for a month after replacement). But, being a cheap SOB, I replaced the starter with the same cheapest model from the same supplier. The Bosch certainly has more torque.

Consider this one closed unless (until) I return with the bad news. Thanks for the input.

Default Non Start

my '86 does this whenever it feels like it. It's clearly the stock theft deterant system. I have found that locking the doors from the inside then closing the door with the outside door handle in the "up" or open position will set the alarm. Then wait for the security blinky light to activate correctly, then unlock the door from the outside, will reset the system. You may have to try both doors to trace which door is causing the prob. So far, I have found no fix, only how to get it started again.

I have some trouble with my alarm too....it just randomly goes off for about 2 mins. car off....car on...doors locked/unlocked. the other day...i accelerated kinda hard...and that caught the attention of a cop. then as he was behind me the alarm decided to go off and he immediatley pulled me over. anyone know how to disable the factory alarm? or just remove it altogether?

Default What did you figure out

My 94 TT won't start when it sits for 18 to 48 hours. It just clicks like the starter can't turn the engine over. I let it sit for 10minutes then it fires right up. I Replaced the battery, and I was going to replace the starter next, but now that I have read the posts I think I will pull the under dash fuse box and inspect it. My toyota mechanic says it's the starter. Has anybody else figured this out?

Default Re: anti-theft

My alarm has not gone off for a long time now and I'm wonderin what the hell happened to it. Does anyone out there know about these things for sure. I'm not fishing for guesses or "it might be"s I would like to hear from someone who knows for sure what the heck is the problem with the stock alarm and what can be done about it. Like I said, mine has not gone off for a long time now, but everytime I turn the key in the morning I'm holdin my breath, then breath a sigh of relief. I don't need the stress. Any electronic geniuses out there?

Default I figured it out

Before I invested in a new starter I checked the starter cable and found it corroded. I Disassembled it, filed and wire brushed the connection clean, reassembled it and now the Supra Starts every time.
