Default Sensor light looks like carousel?

On the left side of my dash in my 89 Supra, there is a sensor light that looks like a damn merry-go-round. I've only seen it light up once, when I first bought the car. What the heck is this, and what is it suppose to represent? Are the Japanese messin with our heads? I know I wasn't seein things, so what gives?

Sincerely,

James

Default Re: Sensor Light

Ok, my coolant is topped off, but there is none in the plastic reservoir tank. Is that good or bad. I thought the reservoir was for overflow. The car never overheats.

Thanks

The light works by a sensor in the plastic bottle. It should be kept at 1/2 full. These cars will, on occasion, send coolant to the bottle when hot, then suck it back into engine when it cools down.

Default RE: Coolant Reservoir

OK, so I go the radiator topped off, and I don't leak coolant. But you say I should fill the plastic res to half full? That's easy enough, but I thought the plastic reservoir was only for overflows. I'll take your advice, I don't see how it can hurt.

Thanks,

James
