How quickly a turbo or twin turbo setup depends on a number of factors. A sequential setup on a twin system will get up and go very quickly... Nonetheless, it is very popular to convert a dual setup for a "Big Single" setup which offers spool that's still quick but also has more room up top and greater efficiency.
There were also the 1JZ-GTE and 1G-GTE MKIIIs which were both twin turbo setups. The 1G-GTE is a rare find (even in Japan which is the only market they were sold in) and not many people know of it or are familiar with the specs. It's a 2.0l inline 6.... kind of an odd bird.
