BOV and BPV protect against compressor surge as the throttle plate is closed. With an auto, the throttle plate is typically closed less frequently than with a std transmission. However, there are still times that the driver may close the throttle plate abruptly while building boost. This scenario would benefit from having a BOV or BPV installed (correctly) on the vehicle.
