Blow off Valves

I got an Automatic supra, is there a good reason to put blow off valves on it, what benefits would i be getting from installing them. :rolleyes2

BOV and BPV protect against compressor surge as the throttle plate is closed. With an auto, the throttle plate is typically closed less frequently than with a std transmission. However, there are still times that the driver may close the throttle plate abruptly while building boost. This scenario would benefit from having a BOV or BPV installed (correctly) on the vehicle.

Ok so what do you think is a good price for a blow off valve?

Haha.... THAT I am not sure of. I didn't have a turbo car long enough to start looking for replacement ones. IMO, a "good price" is relative to the purchaser. If you think it's a good price for what you're looking for in a BOV, type the part number into your search engine and see what people are selling one for. I am sure you'll find a deal you can't pass up.

The following is a short list of a few things to look for in a BOV:

Get a piston type valve, they are not as likely to bleed as you build boost. Less bleeding=quicker acceleration/more power, plus the "Whooosssssssh" sound is much more pronounced.

BUY NAME BRAND! Alot of the cheaper "replica" valves have springs that are too tight or too weak, leading to a late release (more compressor surge) or early release (top end boost leak).

Read the reviews, ask questions. If it's a decent BOV, people will have already tried it. See what they thought. Also, a good BOV will usually have a good company behind it. Look at the specs, talk to the sales reps. Find out what makes that one better than the rest.
