Default o/d off light

previos owner of my 88 did an auto to manual tranny swap. He never had the speedo hooked back up. I got the lower speedo cable from toyota and it works fine. But now the o/d off light blinks constantly. Besides cutting the wire behind the dash, any suggestions ?

Check your transmission for error codes, that's why it is blinking. Jumper terminals Tt and E1 in the diagnostic port with the car off and key switched to on. Make sure O/D is on. The O/D will start flashing in a series of blinks to show one or multiple error codes. Hope this is helpful!

Mine was doing this too because of the Speedo cable. Once i got my speedo replaced on my auto tranny car it went away. I only replaced the bottom as well.. So it appears it is something to do with the swap, but what I don't know unfortunately.. perhaps all you need to do is reset the codes. try unplugging the battery for a couple minutes.

it has a manual trans in it now so I figure the car thinks its not in o/d since nothng is connected to that plug/od switch in the console. I may try and just jump the switch so it thinks the o/d is on all the time.
