A highly modified Supra might could beat a '05 Corvette in a straight line (Not by much), but the Vette would be a better car in almost every other way. As far as the '06 Vette Z06 is concerned, a Supra couldn't touch it. And by the way, Corvette drivers are not candy a**es, most of them are probably car freaks just like we are. The Corvette is an extremely awesome car. I wouldn't feel to bad about getting smoked by the new Z06, it would smoke a Ferrari F430!!
i have to agree on a mild modified 87-92 supra would have trouble with an 06' z06 vette. there are a few years of intelligence to seperate them. but then, if you could afford one, would you still buy one?? ive seen parish's silverado out run a z06 on nos. even then, he was out run by a mk4 supra.

And i would have to disagree with the comment the vette is better in every other way, i'm sure the supra can handle just as good if not better through turns , considering we had one of the best companies build our suspension system (LOTUS). Plus The supra is cheaper, and my opinion, because its prejudice and the supra is my favorite, there is nothing better then a supra to me. There are a lot of nice cars out there, but nothing that when i look at it makes my pants bulge. :P

Lotus built it, with 80s tech. You could spend 10K in suspension and a stock z06 will still take the corners with you, and in a straight line a brand new Z06 bone stock would smoke 95% of MK3 Supras... I could put a BBC in a civic and smoke a z06. The point you overlook is that the vette is bone stock, if his vette is blown, you wouldnt touch it, this goes for ddmcse's 300rwhp as well. Sorry guys, I love the MK3 Supra, but I'm not about to run my mouth about how easy vettes are, that just sounds stupid.

Chevy says the 2006 Z06 will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in well under 4 seconds, run the quarter-mile in the mid-11-second range and top out at 190 mph.

Can your Supra do that?

Just a reminder, I do love Supras

My point was, you will have to spend lots of money to get the same handling as a STOCK Z06. Does anyone here have a MK3 that can hang with a new Z06? Most likely not... Basically KingDiamond, on a roadcourse you would get smoked by any C5 or C6 vette.

Most MKIIIs will get owned buy a corvett form like 95-00+. You would have to have some serriuos mods dont to keep up. A MKIII stock put down around 170 to 190 if your motor is in good shape. A corvett put down almost 300. You do the math.
