Default Need Help!!!

I lost my car key. I called Toyota and they no longer have the code in their computer. They told me it could be found on the passenger door lock cylinder. I have my door panel off and have removed the bolt holding the cylinder to the door. It is loose, but it is attached to linkage which I don't want to bust up. I tried cygnus but not much detail. Can anyone help me.

Default re lost key

i no you dont want to here this but you might have to change out the locks. most of the well known parts stores sell door and ignitions sets. ignition change out is fairly eazy. open up the colume. not to bad just a few screws on the under side of it. usualy there is an alen screw that holds the whole tumbler in place. wires are attached to it follow them and pull it apart. wala its out. reverse the order of the rip out and its done. if you were to do this a few times and you would be amazed how fast you can do this job. now the door locks are a lil harder but you dont have to start riping out rivets there is usualy enough room to manuver it out w/out. buying the set makes it so you can have one key fits all w/the exception of the trunk. but you probably have a trunk release any way. your other option is to call a lock smith. and yes it is pretty pricey. they do it fast and make a lota money. well i hope this has given you some help. sorry about the spelling, never was a trate of mine lmao

happy motering

Default What a Beach!

Well, I did it. Following the illustrations from cygnus manual I removed the interior door panel. There is only one bolt holding the lock cylinder to the door. But then there is a snap on electrical connection (similar to all those sensors under our hoods), plus the mechanical linkage to the locking mechanism itself. I was able to remove the elec connector fairly easy. The mechanical linkage, well, I just twisted the thing and it came free. I really don't think I'll be able to get it back together correctly. But guess what? The lock cylinder is indeed stamped with the key code. Now I just have to go to a Toyota dealer and have a key cut. Repairing the lock will probably cost me some, but at least I'll be able to drive to the shop, lol.
