Default Need Help 93 Supra

Alrite, so I am from Canada, there is a 1993 Toyota Supra 6speed Twin Turbo, for sale $12,000 with 95,000miles on it. Car is Silver ran a Carfax, everything comes out clean. The car seems to have a few mods. Aftermarket Intake, Downpipe, BCC, Boost Gauge, Racing Seats. The Owner of the car is 29 seems like a chill relax guy dosent seem hyper or anything, all cars on the driveway/garage is all clean when I came to look at the car. Seems like he takes care car. My only problem is alot of people have been getting cars cheap from the states with clear titles and they have flood damage? Any ideas Scam or Not?

Yah I did, he didn't get the car to long ago either May 2007, my uncle owns a bodyshop, and he said the deal sounds to good to be true, said if the cars from a flood from the states, I am gonna get all short of problems down the road let alone all the rust that is prob starting in the engine if it was flooded... I don't know what to do the car looks nice and all but I wounder as soon as there is a muddy day or something that the car wont wanna start? Any Ideas on what to do? Cause the cars kinda far from my uncles shop the only thing I can see happening would be, driving it to my uncles shop and taken off the headers to see if there is rust build up.

Usually if it's a flood-damaged car, then it will have intermittent or persistant electrical problems. If you can drive it around for a day or so, and all of the electronics keep working perfectly, you can be pretty confident it hasn't been flood-damaged. Just mho, ymmv.

Oh, and be sure to get it checked out top to bottom by a qualified (independent) mechanic. If you can't find a shop that specializes in Mkiv Supra TTs, then take it to Toyota for the pre-purchase inspection.

NB: Please consider posting any help requests in a new thread instead of asking me for help privately. About 99.9+% of the time, private help requests end up covering great information that could be very valuable to other forum members. If you have a good reason for needing the help request to be private, I'll consider it. If not, then why not give everyone else the opportunity to pitch in too, and/or learn from the information? Remember, there's no such thing as a dumb question. We're all here to help within this family of Supra owners.
