It's an option for the Mkiv (most TT's I've seen were ordered with this option):

The auto->6spd swap has been done before, and a friend of mine wrote up the details. Happy reading!

Oh, and you'll need more than the sub...you'll need the amp and probably a lot of the wiring harnesses too...

Um, yes it did, as an option (as I've already stated above). In fact, it was standard equipment for the TT when I purchased my '94 from Toyota.

Again (apparently hangsupra, you didn't refer to these from my post above), please refer to these links:
http://www.mkiv.com/specifications/ncf/ncf93/ncf024.jpg
http://www.mkiv.com/specifications/ncf/ncf93/ncf025.jpg
http://www.mkiv.com/specifications/p...n/sep20_22.jpg

Here's a quote from the last link:
"Premium 3-in-1 ... CD player ...
  • Excellent audio response with 7 speakers..."
Also, in this tech article photo, you can see about half of the oem subwoofer's rounded rectangular plastic cover, near the forward section of the hatch area:
http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/hat...ear_Hatch1.jpg

hangsupra, where on earth did you hear that the mk4 "...did not come with a stock subwoofer..."? If you ever did get that '97 mk4 Limited Edition Twin Turbo 6speed from your uncle for free, I'd bet that it originally had a stock subwoofer as well. Perhaps he can confirm?
