Default Auto Tranny Slippage

Hey all,

When I rev, the auto tranny seems to slip as a manual clutch slips. I can drive in reverse fine. (and had to for 4 miles in heavy traffic to get home =] )

I can hold it at about 10mph and drive forward but if I go any higher it slips.

This sound like a bad torque converter?

Thanks for any info.

Question

not on my supra but on my last car it did that in reverse, a mechanic told me that there are bands in the transmission and when they wear out you lose that gear, dont know if this is true but could be the problem in your case, I know this sounds stupid but have you checked the trany fluid, you might want to got and have the transmission serviced

that sounds really bad, my auto did that so i just got rid of it for a 5 speed, i had similar symptoms, i would be at full throttle redlining and the car barely moves

Well this sucks considering I just spent $1,200 for a 7mgte w/ an auto ecu and for $200 more I could have had the 5spd with it...

Might be time to sell the car and both engines and buy a bicycle.

you can use the auto ecu with the 5 speed itll just think youre in neutral all the time but the o/d light blinks, go ahead and sell it for a bike no ones forcing you to rebuild or swap anything good luck

The only thing it'll change is having the O/D light flashing? I think I'll hang on to the Supra for a while longer.
