The speedo drive gear is held in by a little bracket and one bolt. It's cake, but you'll need to drain the tranny first or you're going to end up a whole new level of greasy and smelly.

ok i changed the small one a while ago(like 2 months) but the long one i changed yesterday and it was still good when i took it out but still changed it when it was out anyway. even with the cables still good the speedo just went out one day. so do you still think the drive gear seized up? or possibly something else?
