The AC pump has a bit of weight ,so it would be a tiny advantage to remove it ,but the most simple route would be to just remove the belt that drives it so it's not a drag on the engine. If you do go for full removal ,I just unbolted the compressor and hack sawed the hard lines off. IMPORTANT - The refridgerant is a potential hazard. I can't tell you exactly how to do it "safely" because I cut corners
 ,but you must be carefull when breaching this system if it is charged. The refridgerant has the potential to cause frostbite on contact and damage your eyes. It'll also be spraying out of there for a good 5 minutes too ,good luck.
