The AC pump has a bit of weight ,so it would be a tiny advantage to remove it ,but the most simple route would be to just remove the belt that drives it so it's not a drag on the engine. If you do go for full removal ,I just unbolted the compressor and hack sawed the hard lines off. IMPORTANT - The refridgerant is a potential hazard. I can't tell you exactly how to do it "safely" because I cut corners
