Default My 1st Supra: I put a deposit on a '91 tonight!

A good friend had a new '86.5 when I was in HS (that makes me 36 for the math impaired) and I have wanted a Supra ever since. Today I put a deposit to give me first option on a '91 NA automatic for only $2,100. I am not happy about the automatic but the car is very sound mechanically with only 104K miles on it. The leather inside needs work but the engine sounds good and has been maintained by a very reputable mechanic in my area. Unless my mechanic says not to buy it I will get title late this week. My wife wasn't happy about the idea of a two door car (we have two kids still in carseats) until she opened the door and said "this door opening is huge!"

I was this close to giving up on finding a MkIII that hadn't been either beat to Hell or modded that I almost gave up and bought a 300ZX. This one showed up on autotrader yesterday and I gave the deposit this afternoon.

I figure I'll get around to converting it to manual (and maybe 7M-GTE or GTTE) someday but first I had to get a good platform. I have no interest in racing; I would take a brand new stock 5M NA '92 if I could get one. But I am smiling just thinking about walking out the door and seeing this beauty where a Camry used to sit in my carport. They are both white but oh what a difference between the two.

Well, I walk out the door and see my beautiful '89 supra.....AND a '99 Camry.

You will get tired of the kids carseat thing. Just leave them in, and buy extras, rather than removing them.

And remember, the kids can NOT see out a window, and they will be looking at the front headrests, so they WILL get bored quickly. Been there, done that.

The kids won't be riding in this car very much. The wife said I couldn't buy a car that wouldn't at least accomodate all four of us without major difficulty "just in case" so it had to pass the "get the kids in and out" test. Even now the kids only ride in my car once a month or so. If they are going to spend much time in it I may look for some carseats that will fit in a 2+2 a little better than these since the older childs seat doesn't fir down into the depression for the seat. I think it is a good thing I was able to find a Supra. The 2+2 Z I drove had a MUCH smaller backseat and a far smaller door opening.

Default Update: The car is now in my driveway

I think that says enough.

Rear seat delete BRO.

Chicks dig that stuff. Makes room for one more car seat too, haha lol.

The very first thing I would do after oil change and tune up is retorque the head bolts.
