tnx guys , I'm well away now with the suspension ... the cars power is great , its a twin turbo . but the struggle is parts... i probably will have to import most of what i need.
just a question , is there other cars that use the same filters or timing belts o'rings ext. than the supra , just maybe we have that kind of model here ... i know i can get parts for the 2jz engine here... ps , tonite the stripping begins , so ill probably have tons of technical questions tomorrow . tnx for your help |

well i don't know how new you are to supra's so just some basic stuff to know.
1. you need a mls Head Gasket. w/ ARP Head Studs also since your drifting you will prolly be using high boost so the MLS head gasket depending on the brand will lower compression from 9-1 to about 8-1 (that is 7m compression) the 1JZ has a 8.5-1 im not sure what it would lower to also The 1JZ was developed in 1989 to replace Toyota's aging "Truck Engine" the 7M. The 1JZ has a short stroke and high rev limit (7500 rpm). It displaces 2.5 liters the 1JZ-GTE is rated at 280 hp at 8.5 psi of boost. In contrast, the 7M produced 232 hp with 7psi of boost. The C12A turbos have a reputation for failing at high boost (>20psi) in unmodified form. They present the first true limit to the power the engine can produce. if you would like more info look at this site http://mkiiisupra.homeip.net/1jz.html

Ive only ever heard of a few 1js blow their head gaskets. So i think he is fine with his head gasket. The 1j has a metal head gasket like a 2j does. Also the 1jz does lack a little bit of torque but it shouldnt matter once you learn to drift well. Hell even rx-7s can drift decent and they hardly have any torque, lol.
